The first step is to thoroughly clean the planers of dirt and dust. This is done using fine sandpaper and a sanding sponge that does not damage the wood.

The next step is the treatment of parts attacked by wood-damaging insects using microwaves or chemical preparations against wood-damaging insects. This is followed by infusing with linseed oil and coating with beeswax to protect them from further damage and deterioration.

After cleaning and conservation, the planes are ready to be displayed in a museum, where they will be open to the public and serve as a display of historic woodworking tools.
